Last day of the United Prayer Meeting

for the Korean hostages in Afghanistan

During the last four days of the United Prayer Meeting, so many great things took place in different cities, countries, churches, and individuals as people from various geographical distances and time zones came together in unity to pray for the release of the Korean hostages in Afghanistan . These global prayer movements of individuals and Christian groups seem to be a 24/7 non-stop prayer rally, beseeching God’s divine intervention and miracle to be upon this incident.

Suggested by the beloved Chinese brethren, a number of Chinese, American, African American, and Korean brothers and sisters from different churches made their time to gather together to pray for the Korean hostages. This sincere prayer meeting, first proposed by the Chinese brethren, is unlike many other organizations that have been organized for a long time; although it may seem to be loose and free in some sense, yet, it is a godly and divinely led and orchestrated prayer meeting. The four days of the united prayer meetings brought forth intercessors and prayer warriors not only in New England, but also across the United States , Philippines , China , Wales , Korea , India , and many other parts of the world.

Ignoring the debate on why the twenty-three young people risked their lives in a war zone, we eventually came to realize the grand plan of God for the greatest awakening and revival in Afghanistan , the Middle East , and the whole world. So many faithful intercessors gave their inputs, prophecies, opinions, and prayers around the globe and several prayers meetings have been held in this critical week in Greater Boston, New Hampshire, Houston , Seattle , Los Angeles , Bombay , and in other areas. Our almighty God will demonstrate His mercy and grace in the midst of frantic situation that, at the end, the whole world will know that the Gospel of the Lord should be spread to every cities and places in the world.

Bishop Efraim Tendero and Philippine Nationwide Newspaper, Manila Bulletin,

By LESLIE ANN G. AQUINO

The Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC) yesterday asked for prayers for the safe release of Korean missionaries held hostage in Afghanistan . The PCEC led by National Director Bishop Efraim Tendero issued the appeal for prayers, convinced that it is the only thing that the people can do at this time. "At this point in time, there are many things that we cannot do. But there is at least one thing we all can do for them. We can pray. Prayer is one powerful tool in the life of a Christian. By prayer, we can penetrate geographical, political, and ideological walls, pierce hardened hearts, and open blinded eyes," the PCEC said. The evangelical group expressed sympathies for the Korean missionaries, saying that they risked their own lives because of their mission to promote love and peace. …

"They left the comfort of their homes and cities in Korea to go to a dangerous country that has been considered a war zone by many observers. The 23 brothers and sisters went to Afghanistan on a mission of love and peace. They were compelled by the love of God and compassion for other people. They believe they are doing this in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ and so they were willing to put their lives on the line," said PCEC.

My Dear Elijah,
This is just to say we felt a deep burden to ask the Lord to step into Satan's territory and open the door for freedom as well as use this as an opportunity for the gospel.

Dear Elijah,

Thanks very much for sharing these updates with me. Korean Christians are such a strong example of prayer and sacrifice. I also appreciate your message about the whole Body participating. This truly glorifies God.

Madeleine Prendergast, Covenant For New England

Dear Dr. Kim, I am praying in agreement with Paul & Karen McGrath of Boston :

"As I read your notes today about this urgent situation, I am crying ... Recently I was remembering the missionaries that were taken captive a few years ago. They were being held by the Taliban, I think. In the middle of the night some people came and released them and told them to flee and that is how they escaped. I think those people were angels. I am praying today for the Lord to send His mighty angels to rescue our brothers and sisters in captivity now.

"I lift to you my Korean brothers and sisters being persecuted in Afghanistan and I petition you on their behalf. ... And Lord, I pray for their persecutors, I forgive them Father and release them from my judgment and into Your custody in the name of Jesus Christ. I lift to you those on the rescue mission and thank you for being with them, Lord, and strengthening them, in Jesus' name. Amen."

Jesus bless you, Dr. Kim, and your countrymen mightily.

Rev. Eun Jo Park, Senior Pastor of Saemmeul (spring water) Presbyterian Church which has sent 23 missionaries to Afghanistan ,

1. Make us love the land of Afghanistan and its people.

2. Lead the captured brothers and sisters to be set free to return to their families and churches immediately

3. Give hope to the families who has lost their beloved ones in the Taliban’s hands

4. Let the churches share the sufferings of people who are under war and famines.

Dr. Elijah

Greetings in his name, what is the recent update on the Korean in Afghanistan . Yesterday God spoke to me that he will bring them out as he did Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. It shall be as it was in their time and the fire would not be able to consume them, God also is telling me that the top man of the abductors is like the king who sincerely longed for the deliverance of Daniel, this is man now looking for an opportunity to see that the captors are released, the Lord will make that happen rather quickly.

This morning as was doing my personal meditation in the book of exodus the spoke to me saying that he will do what he has done in Egypt, when The Lord God smote the first born of Egypt the Pharaoh said these words"...Rise up and get you forth from among my people, both ye and your the children and go, also take your flocks... and be gone and bless me also" Exo. 12: 31, 31.

This is not too far, the leader of the captors and his people shall say this, the lord Of Moses, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego will do this.

Paul & Karen McGrath

Please - continue to join in the World Wide united-fervent prayer effort for the Release of the Korean Hostages in Afghanistan !

Prayer Points :

  • Immediate release and supernatural intervention for the release of the hostages
  • That a spirit of wisdom and revelation move upon those in negotiation.
  • That God would prepare the Islamic hearts and culture to transform them from cultures of unforgiveness and death to one of forgiveness, life, and love.
  • Pray for Damascus road encounters for those holding the hostages and killing.
  • God would prepare Christian students on college campuses to be bold in faith as they return this Fall and face increasing Islamic opposition.

When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were was completed. Anticipating the Throne

Dear Prayer warriors and fellow intercessors in Christ,

Greetings in the precious name of Jesus, our savior and the Lord

Different tongues, different cultures, different people groups don’t make any difference in the united prayer for the Korean hostages in Afghanistan . This was true of the prayer meeting which was held at Chinese Christian Church of New England yesterday. On the contrary, these differences identify us as one in Christ as the only Savior of the world and Coming King. Sometimes, I just wonder what heaven looks like. Revelations 7:9 says, “After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one can count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.” Yesterday, the prayer meeting resembled a small piece of that heavenly scene and declared “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” (Rev. 7:9 ) We prayed for deliverance of the Korean hostages, forgiveness towards the Taliban captors, for a widening of the door of evangelism in Afghanistan , the Middle East and world mission. Faith Chinese in UK are praying for captives to be freed in Afghanistan . Brother Larry Gao brought petition letters to sign for the release of Korean hostages.

Out of small parts of our efforts in prayer and intercession, multitudes of Christians around the world send their sincere prayer and agreement in this matter. I was so encouraged by so many prayers and intercessions from the four corners of the globe. Truly, their prayers demonstrate one baptism, one Spirit and one faith in Jesus Christ. I would like to share with you several prayers from the world.

John Sharpe: Global Urban Leadership Institute, Seattle , WA

“Elijah, it is good to hear how people are responding to the work of the Holy Spirit in the Boston area.”

Dr. Luis Bush: Transform World (International Facilitator)

“We are praying much on this matter.”

Dr. Steve Price, Welsh Physician and Missionary

“Dear Elijah,

My wife & I are here in Wales as my brother Phil, who was in the last 14 years of his life passionate about the Gospel, died last Sunday. We are celebrating his "homecoming" tomorrow.

Much prayer has been given for the Korean hostages & in Llanelly ,Wales, last Friday 3000 people gathered to celebrate how God had used Wales in the past.........but with a longing that He will open the ancient wells & flood the land with blessing. 25 different nationalities were represented.......multi-ethnic, multi-lingual......praising, praying and sharing their love in Christ. It was a foretaste of what is coming.

Our hearts pleaded for the young Koreans & their Taliban captors, who are lead astray by Satan {his days are numbered} & it was the Korean young people who led the singing & the worship. There were hundreds of them there!!!

We praise God for what the Holy Spirit is doing through you & His faithful there in Massachusetts . We will be in touch on our return to the USA in 10 days.

Yours in His Gospel,”

Cory Raynham

“Thank you, Elijah Kim , for passing on this important prayer item and the inspirational message as well.

I will also share this with other intercessors that I know.

Your brother in Jesus,”

Brother Larry Gao

“During the past two weeks, the world’s Christians have been heart broken. 23 of our very own brothers and sisters (5 brothers and 18 sisters) from Korea who were serving as medical missionaries in war-torn Afghanistan have been captured as hostages by the extreme Muslim terrorist organization, Taliban. Among them are pastors and a newly wed sister who gave up her honeymoon to serve the people in Afghanistan .

Since then, two of the brothers, one pastor and another a volunteer to people with disabilities, have been brutally killed, and the rest are still at serious danger as days go by.

Amid this growing concern, on behalf our church, Chinese Christian Church of New England and in partnership with Boston-area Korean churches, as represented by Brother Dr. Elijah Kim , a well respected church leader who serves at Emmanuel Gospel Center in Boston, my wife Sharon and I would like to invite you and your family to urgent united International Christian prayer meetings this week to be held in our church in Brookline from today on.”

Pastor G.D. Perez

“Bro. Kim, I am pleased to hear about the prayer going up to the Father in behalf of the Korean captives. Our church has been praying for them for weeks. We certainly join you and may God continue to bless your efforts.”

Patsor Mark De Lisio
“Dear Dr. Kim,

My name is Mark De Lisio and I received the email message about this situation. I have been in constant prayer and continue to be and hoping and waiting for the mercy and graciousness of our all powerful and loving God to intervene. I am very sorry about the situation and its rippling effects across the globe to even GCTS.”

Jeff Marks: New England Concert of Prayer

I am so glad you wrote. We prayed for the hostages on Thurs. and it sounds like they are still alive. …

Tomorrow we have the NECP prayer meeting and will pray there as well for this issue. I support the back to Jerusalem movement and am in awe of the missionaries that have given themselves to this. …

But the heart of all this is an urgent call for united prayer, and repentance for New England . As I read your email I thought this is a critical time and we must do this. We had a friend's report that as he was serving in special ops in Afghanistan, his unity, took almost 100% casualties, he was the only one who escaped and only 4 out of 19 lived.

It struck me with the issue of the Korean missionaries and the recent defeat of the marriage referendum and a host of other things that this is a crisis time and we need to respond. My heart is with you in this.

Really, in a sense, people need to lay aside everything to seek the Lord.

Barbara Byerly

Dear Dr. Kim,

I know many are praying around the world and in our city Houston and fasting for the release of the hostages. Terrorism is horrible. May the Holy Name of Jesus cause the full release of all hostages. I know they have suffered such depravity. God is with them as near as their next breath. The fact they came as His Beloved Ones...We know His presence is with them.

God bless you from Houston and all the Transform World Network. You are loved, honored and respected.

We are praying with faith believing for miracles. With my husband an invalid we do have time to pray together. Jim is a deep believer and is a mighty man of God.

Lamech Inbaraj

Thank you for you words of encouragement, may god bless you and your church as you are mobilising prayer across the world for the release of the hostages.

Cush Park : Missionary to Ethiopia

All thing upon the God's hands. Let God be the glory on earth. We are praying for them with Ethiopia Christians in Africa .

Joe Walsh: Sacramento , CA

Dear Pastor Elijah,

This is to encourage you. The invitation sent out to many to pray is touching the hearts of many. For every email sent in response, it is said by those marketing, it represents perhaps hundreds of others who did not take the time to respond, but who sympathize and support the person or issue.

So, please be encourage with the responses forwarded to me by a dear long-time friend, Carol Landrey, who's husband, Paul, is the International Director of TOPIC (You may want to Bookmark this site). Thank you Carol.

Praise God ... His Kingdom will come and His will is being done. And the whole Family of God, many of whom we do not know, are participating in prayer for the release of these Korean Missionaries. May the Lord grant you much grace and peace as we all walk this through together.

Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord,
I just want to thank you for your cooperation in this united prayer.
