A National Revival - where are you in this process?Published on 14 December 2009 in RevivalSource: Ann Doupont Column
CCNews asks, "Please pray the news." A National Revival
A national revival is one in which God’s people in that nation are living for Him. They’re doers of the written Word and not just hearers.
Daily, they crucify the fleshly desires in lieu of God’s desires instead. They’ve repented of all of their sins and are walking the walk of righteousness and truth rather than pretending that everything is all right.
They know who they are in Christ and don’t march to the beat of another drummer. They humble themselves in God’s sight, forgetting the things behind and reaching forth toward the mark for the prize of which they’re called heavenward.
Revival means a people who are revived, brought to life, by the Spirit of God within their hearts. They’re submitted to Him day and night and choose to follow His promptings even when it’s hard.
They are overcomers, knowing that there is a price to pay for their inaccurate decisions. They come humbly before their God, recognizing their need for Him – not just mouthing words but meaning what they say and saying what they mean.
God will revive the willing to be revived. He has promised in His Word to revive those with contrite, humble hearts. When they recognize that they’ve sinned against God, and are sincere in their desire to repent of their sins, He will then show them the way out.
As long as people compare themselves with one another, they will continue to be dissatisfied. Each individual needs only to look to the Lord for the help that only He can give, and then that individual will be revived.
Jesus is the Reviver. He will revive us from within our hearts (will, intellect and feelings, according to Strong’s Concordance definition of the word translated “heart”). When we sincerely desire Jesus to be the Lord of every area of our hearts and lives, we will experience a revival.
Simply put: We’ve strayed from the truth. We come back to Him. We confess our errors to Him and we turn from them, allowing Him to be in charge of our lives.
He takes over. We’re no longer our own. We’re bought with a price, the precious shed blood of Jesus. We follow Him. He makes us fishers of men for all eternity.
