POSSE LETTER          07.17.10

Dear Posse,

BATTLE LINES ARE BEING DRAWN

The Lord has been telling me this for several years.  We are certainly being drawn closer and closer to some of the battles of the ages.

If you have your head in the sand and believe you can wish and hope away all of the things we are facing, I am very sad for you.  That tells me you have not prepared your heart or your family for what is coming upon this nation.  This is not just about "having more faith." I encourage you to read the Book of Revelation.

CARTEL TACTICS CHANGING

We are recently seeing a flurry of articles and reports regarding the existence of Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations operating along the US/Mexican border.

The report titled Border Patrol Apprehensions By Citizenship for FY 1999 - FY 2009 and January 1 Through March 31, 2010 is a shocking reality check about who is really coming across our porous southern border. This information has become available in the midst of Washington officials telling us our borders are "more secure than ever."

Our Border School experts have been faithfully documenting the connection between Latino gangs, cartels and terrorists, both Arab and Hezbollah (backed by Iran).

Here are some concerns:

Israel-like rocket attacks on the U.S. border...

Tunnel-making skills to move WMD into the US...
Drug money used to fund terrorist organizations...

TERRORIST TACTICS STRIKE HEART OF JUAREZ

Job 3:25   "For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me and what I dreaded has come upon me.  I am not at ease nor am I quiet; for trouble comes."

I have been sounding the alarm that the spirit of violence has been unleashed and is coming in increasing waves to the United States of America.  I do not imply we have not had violence - but in a sense we haven't seen anything yet.  (If you are new to the Posse please go to archives and read Drugs, Money and Violence: A Lethal Combination.) My work with Border School has been for the purpose of preparing us to stand in the face of what is coming.

NEW LOW EVEN FOR WORLD'S DEADLIEST CITY

On Thursday evening, July 15, 2010, at 7:30 PM, a new level of violence was unleashed that is sending shock waves through the city of Juarez. Hear the way it was reported in the El Paso Times.

"An explosion blasted Mexican federal police and rescuers when it detonated as they went to the aid of a wounded police officer in Juarez on Thursday night... appeared to follow the tactics of terrorists in the Middle East... in downtown Juarez (two miles from El Paso)... First, a municipal police officer was shot and killed... when federal police arrived at the scene there was an explosion...seven people were injured...street covered in debris... something appeared to be in flames... uniformed police officer lay dead and a man sat on the street bleeding heavily and holding his head... use of explosives, including the possibility of a car bomb, would be an escalation in a drug war that has bloodied Juarez for more than two years... use of car bombs not unprecedented since they had been used in Colombia by drug cartels...

Cartel Lays Trap For Federal Police

The call of "officer down" was a trap set by dressing a man up as a municipal police officer and staging the scene as if he had been shot.  Municipal and federal police, paramedics and reporters traveled to the busy street thinking it was the scene of an attack on an officer.  Once the Federal police were on the scene, the car bomb was exploded less than 5 yards from where the rescue workers were helping the man. Today's El Paso Times tells us:

"The car bombing in Juarez on Thursday in which three people were killed signifies an escalation of brutality and sophistication in the city's 2-year-old drug war," officials said.

Juarez officials on Friday confirmed a car bomb with C-4 plastic explosives was detonated from a remote location.

Local experts said the Juarez and Sinaloa drug cartels have apparently adopted terrorists' tactics that use ... car bombs to kill foes or to make a point.

"It certainly seems like they've taken a page out of the Middle East," said Richard Schwein, the former FBI special agent in charge of the El Paso office.  "... I do not think they will ever use suicide bombers here, but car bombs are easy to make and use."

At least three were killed in the attack, and several more were injured.  El Paso County Sheriff Richard Wiles said, "As the cartels change their tactics over there, we need to be aware of their methods because, if they ever wanted to assassinate someone over here, they may use those same tactics... greater concern, car bombs damage an area, not just a targeted person.  They can be powerful and do some damage."

The Juarez cartel has claimed responsibility for the attack because they believe authorities are supporting Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, the head of the Sinaloa cartel, also known as "the most wanted man in Mexico."

This is a complete video of the VBIED being detonated in Juarez.  Look at the green car - that's where the bomb is.

BORDER SECURITY CONFERENCE

The seventh annual Border Security Conference will be held on Aug 12-13, 2010 at the University of Texas at El Paso in conjunction with the Office of Congressman Silvestre Reyes, Chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.  Let me encourage you with the title of this Border Security Conference:

Re-Envisioning the Border Community to Foster a US - Mexico Partnership for Prosperity, Progress and Socio-Economic Development.

Now, if that doesn't instill confidence that our security troubles are about over, here are some of the panel topics:
1.  Human Capital Development: Building on Innovation and Entrepreneurship
2.  Binational Health: Healthcare as an Economic Driver
3.  Economic Opportunity: Capitalizing on the Region's Competitive Advantage
4.  Effective Security: Disrupting the Operational Capacity of Organized Crime
5.  Enacting Reforms: Strengthening the Legitimacy, Authority and Effectiveness of Institutions
6.  Creating Prosperity: Building a 21st Century Border
7.  Reducing Demand and Consumption of Narcotics

In a recent email I stated "we will not be able to stop all of the violence" coming upon this nation but "we will be able to stop some of it".  We deserve a strong spanking, but the adversary of our souls wants to take us out behind the woodshed and give us the thrashing of our lives.

We must stop what is beyond the permissive will of God and pray much protection for those who need to run to Him to be saved from the horror that is coming upon us.

"I form the light and create calamity: I, the Lord, do all these things."  Isaiah 45:7

In the midst of our well-deserved spanking we will experience the time when the Light of the World shines so brightly that many will come to Him.  But... that Light will be shining in the midst of great darkness and calamity.

"Arise, shine: for your light has come!  And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.  For behold the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people.  But the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you.  The Gentiles shall come to your light and kings to the brightness of your rising."  Isaiah 60: 1-3

Crossing Borders Ministries
of Fabens, Texas (a small community east of El Paso) has been letting the Lord's light shine through them for several years.  Operating out of the little First Baptist Church in Fabens, two women have taken on a huge task of serving the poor of Mexico.  When they began this ministry they could never have known what was coming.  The Drug War has ravaged the Valley of Juarez, just across the Rio Grande from where they minister, making it the most dangerous place in Mexico.

Here are a few excerpts from their recent newsletter. You will recognize the names of some of these communities.

As the violence in Mexico continues, the Lord continues to surround us with showers of blessings for those we minister to here along our stretch of the border.  It's a real-time unfolding of "blessings with persecutions" all around us. (Mark 10:30).  No matter what turn the Drug War takes, it's always the poor and helpless who get caught in the crossfire.  Your love gifts sent this way are nothing short of miracles for these who suffer most.

May was "quiet" compared to what we told you about in April (that's when the Federal police had a presence in the area).  The pastors say things like, "It's been a good week so far - only one or two killed."  To those who've been traumatized by dismembered bodies on the street corners, fewer murders and fewer homes burned down is "good."  But June is now called the "most violent month on record."  In several news reports we read 20 or 30 are killed at a time.  Lately the small town of Guadalupe had been hit really hard.  The town pharmacist (cousin to one pastor's wife) was murdered - after he'd been kidnapped and released earlier this year with a huge ransom paid to get him back.   A few weeks ago the town's mayor was taken out of his home and murdered in front of his family... just last week, one pastor had to go to Juarez to identify and claim the bodies of two of his own brothers and a nephew who had been murdered in San Isidro

The unrest in the whole valley and devastation to so many families is heartbreaking.  All the small villages from Barreales to Porvenir are like ghost towns.  Even though people still live there (the ones who can leave have left), you don't see neighbors out visiting and children out playing like it was even two years ago.  Yet the pastors still tend to those who come to them for help - with the number ever increasing.  As many as 180 people a day are being fed between the two feeding stations we supply, and as many as 400 families each week through the beans and rice all the pastors pick up from us each Tuesday.  You who faithfully support our ministry efforts are making a significant impact in the lives of these who suffer under the curse of poverty and we praise God for you.

A few excerpts:

Summer groups using us as a staging area to ship out supplies of every kind for the churches across from us... set up a health clinic in our church annex for the pastors' families from Mexico... held a VBS... kids showed up in larger numbers than ever... trying to help these kids realize God desires a great future for their lives is a real labor of love... blessing when we get to witness even the smallest victories...see the heavy sadness replaced with the Lord's peace...

I encourage you to consider supporting Joan and Elfie and their sacrificial ministry.

On their website you can find out about their 10th Annual School Supply Drive for kids in Mexico.  This year they expect to ship over 1500 kits.  Some will be taken by pastors all the way to the interior of Mexico and distributed to the Indian children.

Please consider accessing the information from www.crossingbordersministries.com and joining their effort.  Imagine what a huge surprise and blessing it would be for them to receive zip locked bags of school supplies (details on website) from all over the nation!

Please don't forget to include a donation to Crossing Borders, PO Box 35, Fabens, TX 79838.  Not everyone can come to physically work along the border, but we can all do something.

... "Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?"  Matthew 25:44
